Croagh Patrick
The famous pilgrimage walk up Croagh Patrick is a must for any visitor to the Emerald Isle and is certainly on the bucket list for hikers and outdoors enthusiasts a like. The Croagh Patrick mountain stands at 764m and the 7km trail is considered moderate – strenuous in terms of difficulty but the stunning views for the iconic peak make it all worthwhile. Croagh Patrick rises above Clew Bay and the surrounding landscape giving its summiteers a breathtaking birds eye view of the west.
Access to the trail is found in the popular town of Westport which is just 15 minutes away from Riverside House. There is pay and display parking and toilet facilities available at the visitor centre.
We advise everyone to dress warmly and prepare for wet weather. Irish weather can be unpredictable so always be ready for rain and cool temperatures. The trail usually takes 3-4 hours so bring some water and snacks to have a long the way and a packed lunch for a picnic at the peak.
